Biographical
Neal W. Dickert returned to the law practice with the firm of Hull, Barrett PC in 2008 after serving eleven years as a Superior Court Judge with the Augusta Judicial Circuit. Mr. Dickert opened Dickert Mediation LLC on July 1, 2020. He concentrates his practice in the areas of mediation and arbitration.
Before his election to the Superior Court bench, Mr. Dickert practiced with the law firm of Hull Barrett PC from 1974 to December, 1996. In that capacity, he had extensive civil trial experience. He tried numerous jury and non-jury trials in cases involving products liability, workers compensation, FELA, construction litigation, personal injury, negligence, medical malpractice, contract disputes, and ERISA in both the state and federal courts of Georgia and South Carolina.
As a judge, Judge Dickert presided over civil, criminal, and domestic cases and tried more than 100 jury trials. He also sat with the Georgia Supreme Court in the case of Mead v. Sheffield, 278 Ga. 268, 601 S.E.2d 99 (2004). He was the chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Institute of Continuing Judicial Education for the state of Georgia at the time he left the bench. He is a graduate of the National Judicial College and served as a group facilitator for the General Jurisdiction course at the college. He is a frequent lecturer at Continuing Education programs throughout the Southeast and has published articles in the Judges' Journal, the Georgia Bar Journal, and Verdict Magazine published by the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association. He is also the author of the Georgia Handbook of Foundations and Objections published by Thomson-Reuters. This book was initially published in 2003 and has been updated annually thereafter.
