John is a native South Carolinian and graduate of Harvard Law School. He has been certified as a mediator since 2005 and has trained at the Strauss Institute for Dispute Resolution at Pepperdine University.

In his practice, John has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in state and federal court and argued frequently before the South Carolina Supreme Court.  John serves by appointment of the South Carolina Supreme Court as a member of the Commission on Lawyer Conduct.  

John has appeared in publications including The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Los Angeles Times, Newsweek Magazine, and People Magazine. He has also appeared on national television shows including Larry King Live, MSNBC, Fox News, Anderson Cooper 360, and Good Morning America.  John has been ranked among the Top 25 Lawyers in South Carolina by Super Lawyers and has been selected twice as “The State’s Best Attorney” by the readers of The State newspaper.
