Biographical
Amy L. Gaffney mediates with GaffneyLewis ADR and is a litigation attorney with Strom Law Firm. Ms. Gaffney has broad experience from mediating a range of claims and litigated matters, including catastrophic injury and other tort cases, premises liability disputes, and contract claims. She has also mediated numerous, varied employment disputes, including wage and hour claims, other pay disputes, restrictive covenant/non-compete claims, and workplace harassment and discrimination cases. Ms. Gaffney has been a member of the National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals since 2021 and she has been a certified mediator since 1995. Over the course of her career she has mediated hundreds of cases and has worked with parties to craft resolutions of disputed claims pre-suit. She has made many presentations on the art of dispute resolution before the South Carolina Bar, South Carolina Association of Justice, and other organizations. Ms. Gaffney was recognized in the 2024 Lowcountry Legal Elite in the field of Mediation.
As a litigator Ms. Gaffney has represented individuals in a variety of employment matters ranging from collective actions on behalf of public and private employees asserting violation of the FLSA, to individual claims of discrimination and harassment. She has assisted employers by drafting employment policies and conducting employee training. Ms. Gaffney has also represented corporations and small businesses in defending tort, products, and pharmacy cases, trying cases through the State. Finally, Ms. Gaffney has conducted investigations of workplace complaints of discrimination, harassment, unfair pay practices, and retaliation.
